13 Double expantion Cards ((Data+Programs) with all kinds of Sounds/Presets are going with it (see foto Nr 7).
The Remote editor goes with it also for remote Control/Editing.
(Ο Remote Editor RE1 ειναι χωρια απο το Rack με καλωδιο για απομακρυσμενο ελεγχο/editing).
“What really matters is that unique vibrant sound quality of Korg’s AI synthesis, and that the M3R retains the most significant features of the M1.”
“The RE1 offers essentially the same panel editing facilities to be found on the M1, but with the significant addition of the eight data sliders.”
M3R is what the M1R is a great version of the M1.
The M3R’s 1U-high 19″ casing does mean that editing with the RE1 Remote Editor is a nice way to work your programs and sounds easily.
Full marks to Korg for providing the option of the RE1.
What really matters is that unique vibrant sound quality of Korg’s Al synthesis, and the fact that the M3R retains the most significant features of the M1/M1R, such as 16-voice polyphony, eight-part multitimbrality, sophisticated onboard digital effects processing, four audio outputs, and the ability to access Korg’s growing library of PCM ROM sample cards and Program/Combination data cards.
Terminal connectors:
1- Midi interface
2- main analog signal out
3- AUX analog out assignable
4- a 8 DIN pins connector called “REMOTE” for external programmer model Korg RE-1
- headphones out (front)
- 2 card slots for PCM and data cards (front)
Sound & Performance
SOUND the rack main core is a single 8 bits NEC model D70320 which manages up to 16 voices polyphony; DAC is a Burr Brown PCM54HP.
A patch is composed by 1 sample PCM at 16 bits resolution based on “AI SYNTHESIS” with some edit parameters: octave range: 4′ / ‘8’ / 16′, volume gain setting, stereo panning , delay start and monophonic mode.
Internal 3 MB ROM is organized in 3 wave categories: 45 PCM: percussives + 80 PCM acoustic instruments + 9 DWGS mathematically pre-calculated PCM derived from classic hybrid analog-digital Korg DW-8000. Rom can be expanded with several cards (list on new chapter), M3R wavetable can be expanded using some cards usually set of PCM+DATA: HINT: M3R and M1/m1r PCM cards are compatible, but not the DATA ones.
PERFORMANCE the combination mode up to 8 parts with settings: Midi channel assign , keyboard zone assignment ,semitone transpose, volume-panning, pitch tuning , damp amount. External keyboard aftertouch can be routed to pitch, LFO1-2, filter or amplitude.
The Drumkits are a special case, in that each of the 30 drum sounds per Drumkit can be given its own effect routing. In this way you can not only spread your drum sounds across the stereo image, but selectively route a couple of sounds via Outs C and D for separate (even external) processing.
As well as being able to save the M3R’s entire memory to RAM card, you can transfer it via MIDI SysEx, either as a single bulk memory dump or else by category – Programs, Combinations, Drumkits or Global. Incidentally, the factory Programs and Combinations are stored permanently in onboard ROM and can be recalled at any time – always a handy facility, especially when, as here, the factory sounds are worth keeping.
EFFECTS double digital engines that can be chained in either serial or parallel mode : equalizer, reverb (x9) delay (x2), chorus (x2), flanger (x2), tremolo (x2), phaser (x2), frequency exciter and ovedrive.
MEMORY: 100 programs + 100 combinations, RAM doubled when using custom MCR-03 memory ards.
Battery Replacement : a simple CR2032 in a simple holder: just open the rack, locate the holder then replace it with a fresh one. Then you have to reload your sounds: the factory patch set can be recalled anytime just follow this simple keystroke procedure: EDIT, GLOBAL, go to page 5, RELOAD PRESET, OK
